The ghost of the past is a bull #throwbackthursday

To join the social media hashtag #throwbackthursday I’m summoning some of The Bulls water-colour series. The Bulls are at least 6 years old. I can recall when I was painting them, the table I was working at, the materials and even the feeling of the brush on the paper while adding water & colors. I also remember I made them all in one evening (and some failed attempts in the bunch, of course). Memories can be so vivid.

I draw rabbits. A lot.

Directly from my current sketchbook. I don’t know if I’ll develop it further or if it’s going to turn into something more serious like a massive watercolor or whatnot.  The point is that I draw rabbits because to me, they represent chaos. And chaos is the base of all things human. Am I right or it’s just Friday the 13th and Mercury is retrograde and my video renders seem endless…? Perhaps. In the meantime, here’s a sketch of rabbit and chairs. (Yes, I know, chairs? WTF?)

From the sketchbook. Rabbit and chairs

Farse. Another rabbit in my sketchbook.

Painting Studies: Skunk on Fire

Skunk on Fire is an image my friend Miguel Calanchini requested a year ago. It’s just now that it comes to fruition. Not sure which one will defeat the other, though: the skunk or the fire. I vote for the skunk.

A dog, a fish and a cricket. What do they have in common?

Nothing and everything in common. Three different techniques for three different neurotic animals. All of them created after “emotionally difficult” times (a bad grade, a bad date, bad hair day. You name it). All of them crafted in Vancouver, B.C.
