Directly from my current sketchbook. I don’t know if I’ll develop it further or if it’s going to turn into something more serious like a massive watercolor or whatnot. The point is that I draw rabbits because to me, they represent chaos. And chaos is the base of all things human. Am I right or it’s just Friday the 13th and Mercury is retrograde and my video renders seem endless…? Perhaps. In the meantime, here’s a sketch of rabbit and chairs. (Yes, I know, chairs? WTF?)
The myth of King Midas re-imagined on my sketchbook. Did I mention I love my yellow highlighter? One of the most important stationery inventions of modern times? I do.
I have a bunch of drawings from my time at film school. Many of them were drawn on coloured paper, and there is an explanation for that. In scriptwriting, there is a color code standard for the revisions or drafts. First draft is written on white paper; second draft goes on blue, third on pink. More colours follow the sequence: yellow, green, gold. In next posts you’ll see more coloured paper.
Most of these drawings were made “a la doodling”. That means that I was probably bored either in class or in a meeting. Sometimes I also draw when I have a break from other activities or when a video is rendering. It’s like playing or meditating, a way of liberation. Some of these drawings were the basis for other artwork however, the majority of them live quietly in a box. I hope posting them here makes them happy.
Recently I found these sketches in my studio. Funny how one completely forget about things…
